Golden Autumn Days Out
What are we planning for Autumn?
When you visit the North West Highlands this autumn you can choose to have great days out exploring and getting to know the best of the area with Point NorthWest
Golden Autumn days out.
With an early dusting of snow on the mountain summits in the last week of September, we look forward to stunning woodland, mountain and moorland colours and light effects as the sun sinks lower on the southern horizon. This is a lovely time to visit the NorthWest Highlands. One of the best months is October when the roaring of the rutting Red Dear Stags echo through and across mountain and moorland.
Point NorthWest is planning to offer something different for each day from Saturday to Wednesday each week. We want to offer different levels of activities so that each week there will be something for everyone.
For example we plan to offer;
Vehicle tours with short easy walks to places of historical, cultural or natural interest on at least two days.
A good challenging hill walk during the week. In the North West we are spoilt for choice with stunning and unique hills/mountains all about us. We will examine the projected weather forecasts and try to pick the best day of the week for this. Some of these will be aimed at novice hillwakers, who are working on their fitness for mountain walking while other days will be for those with a good level of fitness and stamina under their belts.
A walk along a part of our stunning coastline and - what a coastline it is! Some of these walks will be easy, others more difficult, demanding fitness and stamina - but we will always tell you what to expect so that you do not come out on something you might find too difficult.
And we will explore parts of our remote, wild country.
So keep up with what is on offer. Either visit the web site or drop into the Ullapool VisitScotland Tourist Information Centre when you arrive in the area. You do need to book at least a day in advance.
