To Ullapool by car
If you are hiring a car or using your own vehicle there are a number to routes you can choose to get to Inverness (use a good road map to make your choice).
Once in Inverness follow signage for the A9 North which will take you over the Keswick Bridge spanning the upper Moray Firth. At the Tore roundabout take the A835 and follow that to Ullapool.
A good road map will highlight routes available to you if you are travelling from Sutherland in the North or Skye in the South.
By Air
Inverness airport, with it’s many cheap flight opportunities from ever expanding starting destinations, is a convenient springboard for the North West Highlands.
If you wish to spend some time in Inverness there are regular public transport buses into the city. (see links).
Point NorthWest will be happy to pick you up from either Inverness Airport or Inverness City (see dates & prices).
If you wish to be more independent, a number of Hire car companies offer a service from the airport (see links).
By Bus
Public buses run regularly from Inverness to Ullapool. Obtain the ‘Highlands, Orkney, Shetland & Western Isles Public Transport map’ or contact traveline 0870 608 2 608 or (see links.)
By Rail
There is no rail route directly to Ullapool. There is a good rail service to Inverness from there you can continue to Dingwall, the County Town of Rosshire, or to Garve. From Dingwall or Garve you could take public transport to Ullapool or make arrangements for Point NorthWest to meet you. We can only undertake pick ups in the evening. (see Dates & Prices).
